main deployment handle ...

Pulling this handle pulls out the pilot chute that inflates to begin your main canopy deployment.

Different methods of deploying the main

can be used, but the most common method, and one that licensed jumpers use is a hand deployed pilot chute. After you locate the handle with your right hand, you throw the pilot chute into clear air next to you. Then

- pilot chute inflates

- pilot chute acts as an anchor point using drag

- the bridle that is attached to the pilot chute is pulled out

- the pin that is on the bridle is pulled out of the main closing loop

- the container opens

- the drag on the pilot chute helps the bag come out of the container

- the main canopy comes out of the bag and starts to deploy
