landing pattern ...

Here's a typical landing pattern in low to no wind.

Things to notice:

At 1,000 feet, arrive at your downwind checkpoint, the entry point for the pattern.

At 600 feet, or your base leg checkpoint, whichever comes first, turn onto your base leg.

At 300 feet, or your final checkpoint, whichever comes first, turn onto your base leg.

In light winds, be sure to have plenty of room in front of you on final in case you overshoot.
